Solvents use for paint strippingAustria: Tiefenbacher GmbH - Alfit AG A further pilot project commissioned by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BMLFUW) relates to ChL in the field of paint stripping. In this case, the chemicals supplier is Tiefenbacher GmbH, a producer of special solvent-mixtures for paint stripping, and the customer Alfit AG, a manufacturer of drawer systems, which uses the solvent-mixtures to paint strip its hanging devices. Both were advised by the consulting company BEYER Umwelt + Kommunuikation (BUK). Before, Alfit AG bought the solvent-mixtures for its own use and took care of the disposal as well. In a ChL business model Tiefenbacher GmbH offers paint stripping as a service including the provision of chemicals and their disposal. Due to its profound knowledge on the solvent-mixtures it produces, Tiefenbacher GmbH can optimise the paint stripping process in a way that more than 50% of the solvents used can be recovered.
Solvents use for flexographic printingArtflex Ltd. purchased and installed in cooperation with ERG a machine for recycling of solvents used for cleaning the flexographic printing equipment from paint residues. The relating process enhancement affords the application of ChL business models in business relations between these companies (supply of the solvents by ERG with payment according to the amount of produced packages with flexographic printing) and provides the following environmental benefits:
