Chemical Leasing activities in Egypt are coordinated
by the Egypt National Cleaner Production Centre (ENCPC) which is
part of the programme "Technology Transfer and Innovation Centers
(TTICs)" of the Ministry of Trade and Industry. The ENCPC aims at
enhancing the competitiveness and productivity of an Egypts industry,
promoting sustainable social advance in a way compatible with an
environmental protection through adoption of Cleaner Production
and its related issues.
Overview of the Egyptian Industry
The industrial sector in Egypt accounts for 35% of the Egyptian GDP and employs approximately 25% of the national workforce. There are eight main industrial sectors: food, chemical, textile, metal, engineering, wood, pharmaceutical and non-metallic minerals. About 270,000 companies (95%) are micro-facilities. The furniture sector has the largest number of companies followed by the textile, chemical and food industries.
